Honourable Artillery Company
The London Estate, comprising some 6 acres, has been occupied by the HAC since 1641. The property is bounded by Bunhill Fields Burial Ground to the north, Chiswell Street to the south, Bunhill Row to the west and City Road and Finsbury Square to the east The HAC has a ceremonial role which is fulfilled by both the Regiment and Veterans of the Company.
Bunhill Fields Burial Ground
Bordering The HAC we have Bunhill Fields Burial Ground, which is a public open space that is a haven for peace and tranquillity among the ceaseless traffic of the City of London. Here birds sing and office workers enjoy a lunchtime break. However it isn't just the aspect of peace that makes Bunhill Fields so special. Between the lawns, flowers and benches there are gravestones and other monuments. It was used as a burial site for Nonconformists from the late 17th century to the middle of the 19th century and contains the graves of many notable from British history.
