Popped into this pub with a few mates after work last week. We have just moved into the area and were looking for somewhere to spend the long Summer evenings.

I thought the Gunner was fantastic such a lively atmosphere surrounded by nice people and served by staff who genuinely cared about us.

We sat out the front, had a few pints and shared an enormous Sausage platter and had a great time.

This will now be our local! Easily the best pub in the area.

Was taking my Mother out for lunch last Thursday and came across this Young's Pub. Menu outside looked inviting as were the people eating at the large tables outside. Fish & Chips were apparently the house speciality so I chose that and my Mother chose a "small plate" of Bubble & Squeak. Well I've heard the City is not cheap for dining but I thought this particular place was value for money. Large portion of Fish & Chips and Mother's was more than adequate but it was the restaurant quality of the food that was fantastically surprising. Couldn't manage dessert but promised our waitress we will prepare for a two course next time, and I do promise to return, I'm looking forward to it.

Just a quick note to pass on my thanks to you and all of your staff for yesterday's event. I'm sure you have already heard that we had a full pub, and everybody was very impressed both with the venue, the food and the professional nature of the team serving. The jazz band also really enjoyed having the area at the top of the pub, as it gave the music the prominence it deserved!

I would be delighted to recommend The Master Gunner to anyone looking for a weekend venue for a similar event.

A lively environment with excellent service from cheerful and attentive staff, delicious food though we always enjoy their 'Fish and chips' with the best ever crispy batter. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed that just begs for an afternoons attention instead of just an extended lunch break. A mini holiday for lunch, excellent!
